Located in the peaceful, rural town of San Rafael, it is only 4 kilometers to the larger town of Paquera and about 20 minutes to pristine beaches. The rural coastal town of Paquera is home to several uncrowded beaches about 10 to 15 minutes away. We border both the Pacific Ocean and the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Nicoya. There is an abundance of nature, birds and monkeys, tropical gardens, as well as great fishing with locals.
There is an abundance of nature but not much night life. There are many tours available and several secluded beaches. There are two National Parks and pristine waterfalls just minutes away.
Paquera has several seafood restaurants, two large supermarkets, a local bank, a gas station, an excellent large medical clinic, a police station and several small hotels.
The airport at Tambor is only 25 minutes away and offers several flights a day to and from San Jose, the capital, and other Costa Rican cities.
The national park, Curu, is only a few minutes away and it has large forests with trails, many monkeys and other tropical animals that have been rescued and are domesticated, great for photos. Plus, it has a two mile private beach in front of Isla Tortuga where you can go kayaking, snorkeling or just lazing around. Most people, tourists, who come to Paquera, are here to go to Curu park and Montezuma the Bohemian beachfront town with lots of shops, waterfront bars and a great Tarzan and Jane waterfall.
